| Posted: 04 Dec 2014 09:39 PM PST KUCHING: Kuching City South Council (MBKS) has been told to step up efforts in dealing with the problems faced by residents under its jurisdiction. Democratic Action Party (DAP) has urged it to take a serious view of security guards under its employment. "One case brought to our attention was that of Madam Wong and Madam Yeo who were doing their morning exercise at the Malaysia-China Friendship Park, Jalan Song here, who found their car broken into after their morning exercise," state DAP chairman Chong Chieng Jen told a press conference at the party's headquarters here yesterday.  Chong added: "When they went to the security centre at the park, there were two security guards there, and when they informed them what had happened, the response by the guards was rude." He added that the two ladies had asked to view the closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage, but they were told that the CCTV was broken, thus leaving no record of what had happened. "Too often when we need to view CCTV recordings, it's a coincidence that the CCTV has broken down, and if that's the case, what's the purpose of having a CCTV? I also wish to urge MBKS to take a serious view of the security guards under their employment – they should be more vigilant. "In this case, the car window had been cracked for more than half an hour, and yet the security guards were not even aware," Chong commented. He also urged the police to take a serious stand on such matters, as the two irate ladies had been told that it was "under MBKS jurisdiction" when they lodged a police report. "Even if it is under MBKS jurisdiction, wherever a crime occurs, the police have the duty and responsibility to carry out investigations. They cannot just brush aside the matter and say that it is under MBKS jurisdiction," Chong said. Pending assemblywoman Violet Yong also urged MBKS to come up with an explanation of the drainage system in Sungai Apong here. "There are a few lanes, namely Lorong 7, Lorong 7A, Lorong 8C, Lorong 8D, Lorong 8E, Lorong 8F and Lorong 8G, which are still earth drains and have yet to be upgraded to concrete drains, which cause many problems for residents in Sungai Apong especially during the rainy season, and this has been the case for decades – I can safely say for 25 years and above. "I have raised this issue many times in the State Legislative Assembly, and the answer I have been given is that there have been applications made for federal funding since the 9th Malaysia Plan." Recently, I asked Chong's assistance to put up this question in Parliament to the Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Minister, and we received a written answer that the ministry had not received such application for funding," Yong told reporters at the press conference. She further stated that this begged the question of which side of the story was true – MBKS or the Ministry of Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government. "Is MBKS just sitting on the job and making excuses all these years that they had been bidding for funding, when in actual fact no such application has been made as evident by the ministry's response? "I believe that MBKS, or mayor Dato James Chan, owes an explanation to residents in Sungai Apong regarding this matter," Yong concluded. on Borneo Post(05/12/2014) |
| Posted: 04 Dec 2014 09:30 PM PST  （本报古晋4日讯）行动党古晋市国会议员张健仁指出，他今年11月间在国会向财政部提出问答题中，询问为何公积金局把资金投入到购买马航股票，并且造成多少损失时，得悉该局自2011年投资购买马航股票后蒙受巨额亏损，故要求该局透明化地列出该局投资项目及详情。 他指出，根据国会作出的书面回答指出，马航自2011年购买的马航股票，共亏损了1亿7千283万令吉。 他说，虽然财政部回答时形容该局在投资到其他项目中获得巨大盈利，因此在投资购买马航股票仅蒙受区区的1亿7千283万令吉，但他认为该笔数目并不小。 他认为，公积金局蒙受的亏损，也是缴付公积金的会员遭受的损失。 也是砂行动党主席的他是今午在该党总部召开新闻发布会时，如是指出。 根据财政部回答，公积金局已在2011至2014年，将持有马航的3亿2千391万7千140个股份单位脱手，故在今年5月后，该局已不再持有马航股份。此外，该部的回答也表示，公积金局自2011年至2013年的投资回酬高达257亿，因此形容投资到马航股票的1亿余令吉亏损为小数额。 取自联合日报（05/12/2014） |
| Posted: 04 Dec 2014 09:03 PM PST （本报古晋4日讯）2名女子结伴到马中公园晨运，不料停放在公园大门处的汽车镜子遭贼徒敲破，盗走贵重物品，事后找在场保安及清洁工人理论时，觉得对方推卸责任，便决定报警处理，不料警方却宣称，该处乃南市市政局管辖而未展开调查，让她气愤不已。 2名女子心有不甘，寻找行动党砂州主席张健仁帮助，并在后者的陪同下，今日召开新闻发布会，揭露此事。  不满保安员回答 事主黄枫清在新闻发布会上指出，上述事件发生在11月10日早上8至9时之间。她称，他们是在准备进入公园前，将贵重物品置放在车中，虽然塞在抽屉等地方，不想仍被窃贼盯上，偷走物品。 她形容，她与另一名事主杨厢媚，在案发当天早晨8时抵达马中公园，并在9时取车时，发现乘客座的车镜被敲破，里面贵重的物品包括手表、戒指、手机和现金不翼而飞，让两人合共损失约3千令吉。周边的其他车子却完好无损。 她说，她找保安理论时，保安的语气很不好，让他很不满。她称，该名保安甚至还带着年幼的孩子去上班，显得很不专业。 她也表示，保安当时甚至告知她，类似的案件在该区可说屡见不鲜，其案件已不是第一宗。保安的回答也让她感到不满，不解为何发生了许多类似案件却没有人举报，以揭露问题。 她称，让她感到愤愤不平的是，她也到南市市政局去理论，并要求取得公园设置的闭路电视录影，却被告知该系统已经损坏待修。不但如此，她也形容，她要求接见领导层寻求一个交代时，却被对方呼唤进出不同部门，始终无法取得满意的答复。 张健仁质疑电眼摆美 与此同时，张健仁也在新闻发布会上表示，类似的偷窃案经常有听闻，但是在关键时刻，却偏偏发生闭路电视失灵的问题，他质问当局，到底闭路电视是否只是摆美功能？ 同时，他说，根据事主投诉保安人员的态度及服务太差，他认为，南市市政局作为聘用该批保安的雇主，应该有责任去改善他们的服务和态度，而不是以官官相护心态处理有关事件。 至于警方，他称，警方说该区是南市的管理范围故不能作出调查，是一个不能成立的借口。 "比方说，在某商业广场发生谋杀案，难道说警方就说那是私人场地而不能调查？" 他也敦促南市市长积极去做一些比较务实的工作，而不是忙着做宣传。他也希望南市和警方能进行深入的调查。 取自联合日报（05/12/2014） |
